As part of its mission, Tiamoyo Chorale offers concerts and performances free to audience members throughout northeast Ohio. Tiamoyo Chorale held its first rehearsal on March 5, 2024. The goal was to bring women together to sing a variety of genres of choral music, with the intent of performing concerts. Research suggests that singing has many benefits, including medical and emotional health benefits, particularly when people sing together. Tiamoyo Chorale is a volunteer, multi-generational ensemble, including women from varying occupations, coming together to sound their collective artistic voices. They perform treble voice repertoire, spanning music of the African diaspora and more, including spirituals, gospel, and classical music.

Tiamoyo Chorale has performed at Reinberger Chamber Hall at Severance Music Center, Maltz Performing Arts Center, historic Antioch Baptist Church of Cleveland, Church on the Heights, Shaker Heights Community Church, Garfield Memorial Church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church, etc.

Dr. Cheston understood the benefits of singing, even as a young seventh grader, when she founded the Cleveland Voices of Soul (1971-1978), an ensemble composed of family and childhood school friends, some of whom currently are members of Tiamoyo Chorale. The Cleveland Voices of Soul made their television debut on the Cleveland, Ohio WEWS Gene Carroll Show, with host, Don Webster, and were invited to remain in the studio to record an additional song for a subsequent episode.

As an experienced preK-12, college, and church choir director, Dr. Cheston passionately leads Tiamoyo Chorale as they perform concerts throughout Northeast Ohio.
