Three Soloists in Concert
This will be an exciting concert, featuring Alexis Rainbow, soprano, Anastasia Rainbow, soprano, and Dwight Fleming, tenor. Music by Undine Smith Moore, Margaret Bonds, Hale Smith, Gounod, and more.
Alexis Rainbow, soprano, received a Master of Music (M.M.) degree in Voice and Opera from Cleveland Institute of Music and a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree in Voice Performance from Oberlin College Conservatory. She has held college and university positions as voice professor and Director of Choral Activities at Lane College and Langston University. She has performed as soloist with the Jackson Symphony in Tennessee. With a stunning coloratura voice, she has performed and conducted internationally, including Budapest, Hungary, and, most recently, Guadeloupe, where she conducted the chorus of The Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges, a tribute to Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799), a great historical figure born in Guadeloupe. Ms. Rainbow’s contribution to the arts is extensive, including guest conductor and guest soloist; founder and CEO of several charter schools, including Arts Preparatory School and A Rainbow Arts Academy in Oklahoma; founder and director of the Oberlin Community Children’s Chorus; choral director of the Oberlin Choristers Concert Choir; Minister of Music positions throughout America; all while serving on various arts-related boards.
Anastasia Rainbow Soprano Anastasia “Ana” Rainbow is an emerging classical vocalist recognized for her expressive artistry and commitment to community-centered performance. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Fisk University and pursued graduate studies at the Longy School of Music of Bard College studying with Jayne West. Recent performances include appearances as a guest soloist on the CME Performing Arts Concert in Kansas City, guest recitalist for the Vespers Recital Series in Missouri, and featured soloist at the EmpowHERment Brunch honoring Mayor Stephanie Terry in Evansville, Indiana. In 2025, she also served as Section Leader Captain of the Chevalier International Music Festival Choir in Guadeloupe, France. Anastasia made her Severance Hall debut in Cleveland for the MLK Day of Music Celebration with Sonaria and has toured New England with Linking Legacies, performing throughout Boston, Cape Cod, and Providence. She continues to build a career dedicated to musical excellence, cultural storytelling, and community engagement.
Dwight Fleming, tenor, is a local vocalist and founder and director of Le Pilgrimage Noir Vocal Ensemble. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dwight began piano instruction as a child. He engaged in piano studies through high school. Dwight was introduced to music at a young age by his parents. Music became his first love, as he connected with sacred worship music as a pianist for church services. As a young musician, he was drawn to the sound of the classical symphony orchestra. In addition, Dwight developed a deep appreciation for the music of his culture, Black Southern Blues, while favoring The Negro Spiritual and music from “The American Slavery” period. Dwight has also studied voice. Dwight is very grateful for his musical abilities as he willingly shares his talents with audiences through concerts and church and community performances. He has performed various genres and styles of music, including Baroque, classical, sacred, opera, and Broadway. Dwight has performed as chorus member and soloist with several theaters and ensembles. His list of performing ensembles includes Cleveland State University Chorale Ensemble, Cuyahoga Community College Choir and Choral Ensemble, The Duffy Liturgical Vocal Ensemble, The Cleveland Orchestra Blossom Festival Chorus, The Cleveland Opera Company, Opera Circle Company, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra (New York), the historic Mount Pleasant Symphony Orchestra (Cleveland, Ohio), and many other ensembles.
All singers will be accompanied by Dr. Sharon Brown Cheston, piano.
